Hobbies/Activities:
I am a member of the S.C.A. (Society for Creative Anachronism), I have
also been known to LARP. A big fan of movie nights and board games with
friends.
Just to
test the stereotype - Have you ever lived, or are you currently living,
in your parents' basement? Yes, in high school, though I
never gamed there.
What is
your favorite way to spend a weekend? In the great
outdoors, or with friends watching movies.
Which of
your accomplishments are you the most happy with? That I
am married to the woman I love. (Yeah I know we gamers are a bit mushy
eh?)
What is
your favorite time of year, and why? Autumn, I love the
colors, the way the air starts to get colder.

|
What is
your most prized physical possession? My mind.
Did you
have any embarassing nicknames as a kid? I was known as
Grey Dog. My hair under certain lights (the ones at my high school)
looks a flat grey.
What was
your favorite toy as a child? My wooden blocks paired
with
my imagination. They were everything from soilders to walls.
What are
three things you can't live without? My wife, my books,
my friends.

What did
you want to be when you grew up? History Teacher/Author,
oddly enough I still want to do these things.
If you
could pick any other time period to live in, which would it be, and why?
Late Renaissance/Early Cavalier. It was an age of discovery, with just
enough romance and chivilry left over.(Yes, that is a very rose colored
glasses view.)
What is
one thing that you regret that you would go back and change if you
could? The summer I went "crazy" and almost lost all the
things most important to me. It was the summer I "refound" the religion
of my childhood. It did not go well for my gaming things, too many
found their way into dumpsters.
You've
just purchased a small island off the coast of any continent of your
choosing, and you are preparing to start your own country there. What
does your flag look like? A dark green field with a
falcon displayed on it, a dark blue endless knot emblazond on the
falcon's chest.
If you
could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be?
I would actually like to meet Elizabeth the First

Tell us about your favorite RPG character that you've ever played.
My favorite
character. There are a few really good ones. I will therefore take the
one from the system
I prefer to play in and run. 7th Sea (R&K) by AEG.
Ceadric D'Aur, spy,
swordsman, and pistol bunny. He joined his party when they were
trying to find a way to infiltrait the Montaigne (French) embassy. He
made a very
interesting first impression. Dressed in a powdered wig and fop wear
(think Tim Roth
from Rob Roy). He was able to gain entry and find out the information
needed. This
lead the party into the country side looking for a hidden invasion
force. One of the Eisen
(German) in the party constantly teased him over his "small" sword and
his pistols.

After coming up with a way to handle the 200 man invasion force, which
involed the monster-attracting sap of a certain tree, the party took
some down time at the estate of one of the party members. Ceadric had
gotten some of this sap on his hand, he locked himself deep within the
house, knowing that the only thing he could do was wait for the sap to
wear off.
After nearly two weeks
in a small bedroom with no windows he came down for breakfast. Over
breakfast, the same Eisen teased him once more. This was Ceadric's
breaking point. He challenged the man to a duel. Now it should be said
to this point the party had only ever seen Ceadric fire pistols, with
which he was very well trained. Being that the Eisen had a larger sword
and armor, he decided it would be blades. Ceadric agreed and told him
to meet in the courtyard in a half hour. The Eisen came out, his
Dracheneisen armor in place and Dracheneisen sword ready. Now
Dracheneisen is stronger than steel and lighter as well, and only Eisen
are "supposed" to own it. Now waiting for the walking "tank" is
Ceadric. He is in no armor at all, armed with only a rapier and dagger
vs. the Eisen broadsword.
They quickly decided
that the fight would be to first blood. The Eisen's play was able to
take the first action, much to his surprise he was blocked. Ceadric had
raised both dagger and rapier, catching the sword in the crux. Then
with a speed that the party had not seen before from Ceadric, he ended
the fight. His rapier flashed out removing a long lock of hair from the
side of his opponent's head, and with it a small scratch that bled,
thus ending the duel. From that day on, the Eisen never again teased
Ceadric. The party went on to change the face of the world (how many
parties don't, eh?).
What are
your favorite RPGs? 7th Sea (Roll & Keep),
Palladium Megaverse, Serenity, D&D (2nd, 3rd, 3.5), Amber
Diceless, plus many, many others
What was
your first RPG session like? It was interesting to say
the least. I cut my gaming teeth on Rifts. Which is no easy thing. I
played a wilderness scout. It was this group that eventually lead to me
taking up "The Screen" myself. I would have to sneak over to my friend
Mike's house as my parents would not allow me to play RPG's.
What was
your WORST RPG session like? Well I will give you one
from both sides of the screen. As a player perhaps the worst ont
session was the one in which a fellow player decided to make character
conflict into player conflict. Fortunatly the GM was able to handle
things. Unfortunately it ended in one less player at the table. As a
GM, I believe the worst was when my players made some very poor choices
and all ended up dying. TPK (Total Player Kill). Many of them were able
to roleplay through their "Afterlife" scenes and come out of it better.
A few players took it personally and left the group. :(
Who is
your all-time favorite person to game with? This is a
really hard one. I have moved around so much in my life that I have
many friends who I would enjoy gaming with again. My hope is that my
wife will enjoy gaming as much as I do, so that we can form a nice core
group to game with. If you really want names it would be Linda R.
