Political
party/affiliation: I'm a registered
democrat and come from a labor background
(United Steel Workers and Union Nurses). I'm
mostly sorta, kinda progressive with both
left and right leanings depending on what
we're talking about.
Hobbies/Activities: My biggest hobby
outside of gaming is collecting, restoring,
and riding old Japanese motorcycles with my
wife. Aside from that I'm into Eastern European
and Russian history, military history, aviation
history, photography, travel, cooking (I was
trained as a chef), collecting and shooting
antique rifles, playing airsoft, music, antique
cars/hot-rods, architecture, urban exploring,
and mid-century fashion and design.
Just
to test the stereotype - Have you ever lived,
or are you currently living, in your parents'
basement? Heh, no. Although in culinary
school I lived in a walk-in closet.
What
is your favorite way to spend a weekend?
Typically having dinner/cocktails/snacks with
friends and playing some Munchkin or Settlers
of Catan. When not doing that my wife and I
try to take in a show by one of the many great
local bands/musicians around here.

|
| Which
of your accomplishments are you the most happy
with?
Probably a tie between becoming a published
author, teaching
myself how to wrench on bikes and becoming a
father.
What
was your first word? “Baba”
(Grandmother)
What
is your favorite word? Either “mouthbreather”
or “Philistine”.
Both are usually preceded by profanity.
What
did you want to be when you grew up?
An astronaut.

How
many languages do you speak? English
fluently. When I was a chef I could get along
passably well in Spanglish, and I can understand
a little Russian and Croatian.
What
is your favorite mode of transportation?
Motorcycle or walking
If
you could pick any other time period to live
in - including the future - which would it be,
and why? I'm pretty much happy with
right here and right now.
What is one thing that you regret that you would
go back and change if you could? I
haven't treated some people as well as I could
have. There are also a few people I treated
better than they deserved.
What is the one thing you want to do before
you die? Fly my own helicopter.

| Tell
us about your favorite RPG character
that you've ever played. I have two.
The
first is Bully, a minotaur cybernetic
engineer and freelance troubleshooter I
played in Rifts. With the GM's consent
and without the player's knowledge, Bully
implanted a neural cut-out in the party
leader's head so that he could turn the cyborg
on and off at will. The cut-out was synced to
the
security keyfob for Bully's truck. My second
favorite is Yuri, an alcoholic Russian
cyber-psychotic mad bomber that I play in Shadowrun.
Recently, due to some horrific trauma, Yuri
is starting to exhibit
signs of PTSD, and I'm having a good time playing
a ticking
time-bomb who thinks in kilos of explosives.
What
are your favorite RPGs? Shadowrun
3rd, Harn,
Cyberpunk, Rogue Trader,
Call of Cthulhu, All Flesh
Must Be Eaten, Mountain Witch, d6 Starwars,
Iron
Kingdoms, Deadlands, and Rolemaster/MERP.

What
was your first RPG session like? I
don't remember much about it, but it was red-box
D&D.
What
was your WORST RPG session like? It's
a tie between a horrible Robotech con
game I played at Origins '04 and a Shadowrun
game I played in a few years ago. The RT game
featured horrible pacing, a skeevy, oily GM,
little to no actual play (The GM was telling
us a story, essentially and we weren't allowed
to screw it up) and extremely awkward sexual
situations. I got my money back. The second
was mainly the GM being a complete sociopath
and harassing the women in the party, my wife
included, so much that they got tired and quit.
Do
you have anything gaming-related to plug?
I would love to plug my gaming/design blog Motor
City Gamewerks - www.motorcitygamewerks.net
- and ask readers to keep an eye out for my
latest work which will be coming out soon from
Fantasy Flight Games for their Rogue Trader
game series.
