Just to test the stereotype -
Have you ever
lived, or are you currently living, in your parents' basement? My parents don’t have a
basement because
their house sits on top of the largest aquafer in the United States and it is only
10
feet to the water table.
What is your favorite way to
spend a weekend?
Reading a good book, going for a walk with Joani or playing games with
my
friends.

What is the most frightening thing
you've ever
done? The most frightening
thing I’ve ever done was riding the Big
Shot on the
roof of the Stratosphere
Casino. I suffer a bit from acrophobia so it
was
pretty scary.
Which
of your accomplishments are you
the most happy with? Graduating from
college.
I was the first person in my immediate family to go to
a four year
college. Also, I really struggled in grade school
and high school, so it was
quite an achievement for me to even
get into college let alone graduate.
What was your first word? My mom says my first word
was a complete
sentence as I didn’t start talking until I was
nearly two years old.
What
is your favorite word? Abracadabra |
|
|
How many languages do you speak?
English plus
just enough French, Spanish and German to get myself into trouble.
What is your favorite time of
year, and why? My favorite time of year is
Fall because the weather
is not too hot and not too cold. There aren’t too many storms either. I
also
really enjoy harvesting the fruits, nuts etc of the plants that are
ready in
the fall both in gardens and out in the woods.
What is
your most prized physical
possession? I have a Norman sword that is made of real steel
and that can
be fought with in tournaments. I could also sharpen it to a razor sharp
edge if
I wanted to. I also have a katana of real steel which is sharpened. I have actually fought
with the Norman sword
in tournaments at renaissance faires.
If you could change one thing
about yourself, what
would it be?
I wish I was more
confident in myself.
Did
you have any embarrassing nicknames as a kid? My grandpa called me “Squirley”
because I was so
small, fast and had a hard time sitting still.
What
was your favorite toy as a child?
My favorite toys
were my extensive Star Wars action figure collection. My grandparents
would get
me a new action figure for birthdays, Christmas and sometimes just
because, so
I had a lot of them.
What
makes you cry? When I stop to think about all
the babies who have died due to
abortion, it really makes me sad.
What
is your favorite section of the newspaper? My favorite section of the
newspaper is the
comics. I miss
Calvin and Hobbes!
Do
you have a useless talent that no one else that
you know can do? I can mimic just
about any accent you can name and sound like I come from just about any
country.
What
are three things you can't live without? There is nothing I can’t live
without. I learned
that when I spent an entire summer
many years ago living on a research station in the middle of North
Dakota while
I worked as a research assistant. I left almost everything I owned
except
clothes back at home. I found that I really didn’t miss any of it as
much as I
thought I would.
If
you could be one superhero, which hero would you
be?
If I could be a superhero, I’d
love to be Batman. It would be awesome to have all that wealth to be
able to spend
on whatever I wanted and to help whoever I wanted to with. Plus all the
gadgets
would be fun to play with. I’d also love to be that good at martial
arts and to
be that fearless.
What
did you want to be when you grew up? Many, many things. It changed
on a regular
basis. You know, I
really still don’t
know what I want to be :)
What is
your favorite mode of
transportation? My favorite mode of transportation is a
train. They are so
comfortable and relatively smooth riding. You can walk around, take a
nap or
look out the window any time you want without having to be belted down.
If
you could pick any other time period to live in -
including the future - which would it be, and why? I would pick the time period
when Jesus was on Earth
and to live in Nazareth. It would be so great to have
at least met Him and
to have heard his preaching first hand.
What
is one thing that you regret that you would go
back and change if you could? I try
to live with no regrets. I’ve learned that all regretting does is make
you feel
sad without really changing anything.
What
is the one thing you want to do before you die? If I had to pick one thing, it
would be to travel to
Europe and see all the famous castles.
You've just
purchased
a small island off the coast of any continent of your choosing, and you
are
preparing to start your own country there. What does your flag look
like? My
flag has a golden enfield
creature rampant on a black
background.
An enfield is
a chimera that is used in family crests and coats of arms. You can see
one if
you go to the website of Enfield, England.
What is something you wish you could do
at least once? Write
a screenplay
and see it turned into an actual movie.
I have lots of ideas for movies. |

Tell us about your favorite RPG character that
you've ever played. My favorite RPG character that I’ve played so
far was a white dragon named The Wyrm of Avarice. I was the DM of a Dungeons
& Dragons 4th edition campaign and it was great fun to come up
with insults, taunts and other dialog for the dragon. The dragon managed to freeze a couple of my
players before the party killed it too.

|
What are your favorite RPGs? Most of the RPGs I
play are computer games like Baldur's Gate, Oblivion, Fable, Fallout 3 and Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. My
favorite table-top RPG is Dungeons & Dragons.
I also rather enjoy the D&D Online game.
What was your first RPG session like? I played D&D 3rd Edition a
couple of times when I was in college. I
played a barbarian and had fun flying into a rage and hewing monsters down with
my big axe.
What was your WORST RPG session like? The worst RPG
session I’ve ever had was a D&D Encounters session. It was the first
session I was able to make time to play in but the campaign had already
started. What made it so bad was that I had spent a lot of time coming up with
my character (the DM let players make their own characters if they wanted to),
but when I showed them my character, they wouldn’t let me play him because they
said he didn’t ‘fit in’ with the story. So, I had to play a pre-generated
character that I hadn’t seen the sheets for until that day. The pre-gen
character was so weak and ineffective that he never managed to do anything the
entire session.
Do you have anything gaming-related to
plug? In
addition to playing RPGs, I also play the D&D Battles Game (yes it still
exists!). I am the coordinator of the
Clark County Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures Guild which is a local chapter of
DDM Guild. If anyone in the Las
Vegas area is interested in
playing DDM or Heroscape D&D, they can contact me at www.vegasgamers.org. You can join the Vegas Gamers group for free
and then look me up in the membership directory and send me a message. You can also check out the website for DDM Guild
to see what it is all about at www.ddmguild.com.
